You may not recognize most, or even any, of these names–yet! This writer chose Dagenham’s “Mad Grace” to entice you just as it enticed me, an example of contemporary authors not just taking the masters work and recreating it dutifully and dumbly, but actually carrying over traditions of the counterculture influences before us and making it new, making it their own. Mogadored is part of an ongoing series of Chapbook Journals offering writing and occasional artwork from contemporary artists, released annually and featuring a new name with every issue, some examples being Judas-hole, Schizzo, Witch-pricker, among others–Do those names not sound like something right from the San Francisco Renaissance?
