Dunning’s dark humor, poetic prose, and erudite nature made him a writer that, even if you werent a fan of the detective genre, was thoroughly enjoyable and compelling to read. Most well-known for his “Cliff Janeway” novels, Dunning’s career extended into reference books on old-time radio, other detective novels, and mystery novels. Today’s curation, “Deadline” (1995), follows reporter Dalton Walker in the wake of a circus tent fire that has claimed the life of a young girl while juggling a second story about a young Amish woman who left her home to become a dancer in the Big Apple. Hardcover in brown board slip-case. Limited first edition signed and numbered in thin red ink by the author on first endpaper before the title page, Number 42 of 200.
