Originally composed during the early 1960s & partially published in myriad official & bootleg publications from the early 1980s, the first complete English-language version of San Francisco Blues (to the best of our knowledge) was included in the compilation Book of Blues (Penguin, 1995). This edition was published on June 27, 1996 per colophon at verso of final leaf. Small-format softcover with flamboyant, colorful, partially embossed front cover illustrations (appropriately including a stylized Greyhound Bus logo) & graphics at front cover (credited on back cover to Art Director Federico Luci & Graphic Designer Andrea Falsetti), first edition thus, presumed first printing (as we conclude per the precise date of colophon noted above). All text in Italian, translated from Kerouac's original English by Massimo Bocchiola as stated on title page. A very rare & most-interesting version of the classic & exemplary Kerouac poem cycle, with distinguished provenance- for the Italian-reading &/or devotedly completist collector. In relatively quite fine condition with mild rubbing, mostly faint scratching to front, back covers & spine; light wear & some tiny bumps, creases at/from edges & corners of same; mild rubbing, browning & spotting to edges of text block esp. upper edge. Interior fine with light browning to blank inner covers & page leaves (the latter chiefly at blank margins/edges); tiny bumps at corners of some page leaves; very faint, medium-size crease at lower outer corner of one leaf (pgs. 51-52) where apparently once-folded.
