Film Fun (February 1931)
New York, NY, USA: Dell Publishing Co., 1931. First American Edition. Softcover. Offered here is Volume 54 Issue 502 of FIlm Fun magazine, and it is a real rarity and treat to present to you dear reader. Film Fun was a British celebrity comic book that ran from January 1920 to September 1952 until it merged with another British comic called Buster. The comic features captioned photographs and pin ups of people from popular films at the time and is both aesthetically alluring and kind of hilarious! An astute gaze will notice a controversial symbol on the cover of this issue — as this a pre-war artifact we at Third Mind would like to assume that this comes from Hinduism understanding which symbolizes prosperity and good luck. A must-have for the film fanatic. From the collection of Laurence Goldstein (1943-2023), poet, editor, and professor in the University of Michigan Department of English Language and Literature. Magazine: First edition and first printing though neither stated at copyright page. In relatively fine condition with rubbing/smudging on front and back covers; a penciled “N” on front cover; moderate closed tearing to spine. Certainly a more delicate item that’s been nicely preserved. Fine. [Item #7020]
