Wormwood Review Vol. 34 No. 1 (No. 133, 1994)

Stockton, CA: Wormwood Books and Magazines, 1994. Limited First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. This later number of the legendary literary journal edited by the late Marvin Malone features three poems by Charles Bukowski (1920-1994), the great American cult favorite poet-denizen of the dive bar & the racetrack: "The High School Girls (1984)," "Who's Who in America: 1984-1985, Forty-Third Edition (1985)" & "Feeling Fairly Good Tonight (1985)." (pgs. 45-47). Debritto, B1756, pg. 404. Also in this issue are contributions of poetry by Gerald Locklin (1941-2021), the noted poet & former editor of Chiron Review who was Buk's close friend & colleague (pgs. 1-5); a special section of poems & prose-poems by Joan Jobe Smith (b. 1940), editor & publisher of the literary journal Pearl which featured poems by Buk, her close personal friend (pgs. 25-40); & much more. Chapbook-format journal in stapled wrappers, one of an edition of 700 hand-numbered copies of which this is No. 530/700 as stated at colophon (pg. 48). Another rich, rewarding & scarce issue in this most-collectible series, of particular significance to Bukowski devotees with its exemplars of his later, wryly reflective works. In especially very fine condition with only a hint of rubbing to front, back covers & stapled spine; a few tiny bumps, creases at edges & corners of same; tiny bumps at corners of a few page leaves; otherwise appearing substantially mint inside & out. Very Fine. [Item #7174]
