You're the Guy I Want to Share My Money With
New York, NY: Giorno Poetry Systems, 1979. First Edition. LP. The now-classic LP by William S. Burroughs (1914-1997), our patron saint-demon and the Founder’s Founder of the Beat Generation-&-Beyond, John Giorno (1936-2019); and Laurie Anderson (b. 1947). In 1981, Giorno Poetry Systems — the epochal, multimedia publishing enterprise of noted New York poet & artist, John Giorno — released You’re the Guy I Want to Share My Money With, a musical feast. Giorno — known for his penchant for pithy inventiveness, and also an unflagging, gourmandizing queerness — here variously mobilizes both. Anderson, whose contributions are seminal, singular and make the album a success “across disciplines” — was well-established in the NY Art World by 1979, but her star was doubtlessly still rising. A Burroughs LP like no other, this resplendent assembly of profligates is here shown having enormous fun at the early-mid [LA] (& mid-late) [Bill & John] height of their powers. Two 12” LP records in gatefold cover: the First Edition of this alluringly collectible Burroughs LP (Schottlaender E39(a), p. 141). LPs in generally Very Good-Near Fine condition with strong gloss & predominantly absent of scuffing, scratches and nicks; some dust [we haven't test-played it, though do believe a gentle cleaning could bring the condition grading up a step further, even.] Gatefold in Very Good-Near Fine condition with only minor-to-moderate shelf-wear, light bumping, some bump-creasing, age-toning, & variously enunciated instances of rubbing throughout; otherwise, clean. Very Good-Near Fine / Very Good-Near Fine. [Item #7687]
