San Francisco, CA: Bill Graham, 1969. First Edition. Single Sheet. This postcard designed by Greg Irons promoted a 1969 show at Fillmore West produced by the legendary impresario Bill Graham (1931-1991). The verso explains “Every Tuesday Night” features auditions, jams, and guest performers as part of “The Sounds of the City” from 9 P.M. to 2 A.M. Also, their basketball team “Fillmore Fingers vs. The World” is listed to play “(by appointment) every Tuesday” from 7 P.M. to 8 P.M. Chuck Berry (1926-2017) was a legendary rock-&-roll guitarist, singer, and songwriter, nicknamed the “Father of Rock and Roll” after refining the major elements of R&B into the distinct sounds of rock-&-roll. His songs “Maybellene” (1955) and “Johnny B. Goode” (1958) are some of the earliest rock-&-roll songs that found mainstream success. His album Back Home was slated to be released just two months after this concert. Aum was a group made up of Larry Martin, Wayne Ceballos, and Ken Newell known for the jam-oriented concerts. Their two albums were both released in 1969 by different labels, Bluesvibes from Sire and Resurrection from Fillmore Records. The Loading Zone was a band of the late 1960s and early 1970s that released a total of two albums before disbanding in 1971.
