(excerpt from Bukowski poem "Grip the Light" pg. 53) Started in 1980 by New Yorker and co-author of millenial favorite children's book "See You Later Alligator" Helen Friedland (1916-2012), this timeless number of the legendary poetry journal chiefly edited by Friedland features the first publication of poems "Carson McCullers", "Grip the Light" (quoted above), and "Gnawed by Dull Crisis" (pgs. 52-56), by Beat-&-Beyond cult favorite Charles Bukowski (1920-1994). Friedland discusses her decision to allow non-L.A. poets into the journal in her introduction "Random Walk" & much more. With acknowledgments, contemporary ads, and short writer biographies. A very significant issue in this always most collectible series, of particular interest to the Bukowski devotee/completist.
