Bird School with: The Last Monkey with: Hot Fart in the Temple (Three Volumes)
Troy, NY, USA: Black Fig Press; Seastone Editions, 2024; 2025; 2010. Limited First Editions. Sewn Binding; Sewn Binding; Softcover. Two volumes signed by Ronald Baatz and Andra Sheinkopf; one volume signed by Leonard Seastone. Ronald Baatz is a notoriously elusive poet who has been featured in literary journals like Wormwood Review alongside other legendary Beat-&-Beyond writers like Charles Bukowski (1920-1994), the so-called “poet laureate of American Lowlife,” and Gerald Locklin (1941-2021), the former poetry editor at Chiron Review. This bundle includes three volumes of poetry by Baatz, two of which (The Last Monkey [1] and Hot Fart in the Temple [2]) are his newest and both are signed by both him and their publisher Andra Sheinkopf. Sheinkopf’s Black Fig Press specializes in hand-assembled limited editions of poetry, and they have published several other volumes by Baatz (see our item no. 7512). The third volume (Bird School [3]) is published by Seastone Editions; Leonard Seastone (b. 1950) is an artist, publisher and bookmaker who provided the illustration on the front cover of Bird School. He holds the first MFA in Book Arts in the US, earned at Purchase College in 1988, and he was part of the small press and mimeograph revolution in the 1970s and 1980s. [1] Softcover in sewn wrappers: first edition, published in an edition of only 40 copies, as indicated at colophon. This is copy number “27” as indicated by handwritten number thereon.
