Portfolio (October/November 1990)
San Diego, CA: David V. Andreone and David S. Bridson, 1990. First Edition, First Printing. "the apprehension of reality, the death of the flower | girls, the folding of hope, the guilty crush of the | wasted years, the nightmare faces that only you can | see, the mad armies dying for miscalculated truths..." (excerpt from poem for nobody, Charles Bukowski; pg. 14). Co-editors American art director David S. Bridson (b. 1967) and American psychotherapist David V. Andreone co-founded Portfolio in San Diego, CA. This number features an interview (conductor uncredited) of American poetry icon and ladies-man Charles Bukowski (1920-1994) discussing topics of writing style, current writers and even Disneyland (Debritto B1514, pg. 367). The previously unpublished Bukowski poem “poem for nobody”, reprinted doodles, and an excerpt about his waiting for a writing submission acceptance accentuate an overall well-rounded piece. This issue of Portfolio also presents a profile of David Lynch (1946-2025) the American filmmaker known for his surrealistic and experimental films and his television show "Twin Peaks" by American film and theater critic Beth Accomando (b 1960). A Stephen Burns landscape photograph graces the centerfold pages. With other interviews including artist Samantha, contemporary ads, etc. Magazine in stapled in wrappers. First edition, first and only printing. Magazine in relatively fine-to-very-fine condition with only minor rubbing, scratching to front, back covers & stapled spine; a touch of wear & a few tiny bumps, creases at edges & corners of same.
