Single Sheet. “This Sunday’s program features music by the Detroit Contemporary 4 (Charles Moore, cornet; Ron English, guitar; John Dana, bass; & Danny Spencer, drums), with special guest Ronnie Johnson, drums, who will take part in some of Charles Moore’s experiments for 2 drummers.” (first paragraph) The twenty-fourth flyer-announcement produced by John Sinclair & Robin Eichele’s Detroit Artists’ Workshop relating to their series of “Sunday Programs.” The Contemporary 4 would expand to the Contemporary Jazz Quintet led by Detroit Jazz great, Charles Moore (1941-2014). Readings on the program are led by Bill Harris, the accomplished Detroit author, critic and teacher who was named the 2011 Kresge Eminent Artist by The Kresge Foundation. The flyer also advertises film showings, dance and art classes, the Workshop gallery, and more. Topics of events & classes in this program include discussions of jazz giants John Coltrane and Elvin Jones; & readings of works by iconic Beat-&-Beyond poets including Robert Kelly & Philip Whalen. From the collection of Robin Eichele (b. 1941), noted Mimeograph Revolutionary & co-founder (with John Sinclair) of the Detroit Artists’ Workshop. Flyer-announcement on single sheet: the first & only printing of this distinguished rarity from the Mimeograph Revolution.
