Framed Broadside: "No More Chemical Spray..."
No Place: No Publisher, n/d. Presumed First Printing. Single Sheet. “but my gloved hand / pulls / clumps of trans- / migrating souls; / turn the worms / to green paste / beneath black boots. / For I am dedicated to / a harvest of apples, / pruning back the / excess / of Paradis” (from “No More Chemical Spray”). A gorgeous, unattributed broadside (measuring appx. 25 x 19,” with frame; or 24 x 18” without) featuring a poem rendered profound in no small part by its quotient of environmental themes. These themes, coupled with the adeptness of the versification and the elegant framing, make this broadside especially welcome in a collector’s home. Professionally framed large-format letterpress broadside: the first-&-only printing of a gorgeous, singular rarity. From the collection of Albert Glover (b. 1942), the acclaimed American poet, author, bibliographer, editor & publisher whom we're honored to be acquainted with, & who is the foremost living authority on Charles Olson [1910-1970], the canonical American poet among the most Gigantic (literally & literarily) men-of-letters of the twentieth century—our favorite Maximus Obscurantist. Glover studied with & was anointed by the Maximus Master himself, & has outstandingly served as his bibliographer & editor (see for example our item No. 8126). In very fine condition with only minute-to-moderate shelf-wear, light bumping to fine-edges & corners of frame at varying locales; otherwise, pristine. Due to the shipping requirements of this item to assure its safety, extra cost thereof will be necessary. Very Fine. [Item #8168]
