New York, NY, USA; London, England UK: Cape Goliard Press in association with Grossman Publishers, 1970. First Softcover Edition. Softcover. From the collection of Albert Glover, with his ownership name & date. A collection of poems by the primary New York School-&-Beyond poet Ted Berrigan (1934-1983). One very short poem, entitled "Telegram," dedicated to & written shortly after the untimely passing of Beat Generation Founding Father Jack Kerouac, consists entirely of: "bye-bye Jack./ See you soon." There are also two poems, "Ann Arbor Elegy" & "Ann Arbor Song," that relate to the city that is the home of Third Mind Books; the well-known "People who Died" & many more haunting, inimitably Berriganian works. On front cover & interspersed throughout are illustrations by the noted artist George Schneeman (1934-2009). Large-format softcover in sewn binding, first softcover trade edition published simultaneously with hardcover edition, first printing though not specified at copyright page; a collaboration between British & USA publishers & printed in Great Britain. From the collection of Albert Glover (b. 1942), the acclaimed American poet, publisher, scholar & academician who remains the foremost living authority on our favorite Maximus Obscurantist-Charles Olson, the Great (physically & in letters) Black Mountain-&-Beyond poet's-poet/mentor/incantatory inspirer. At recto of third blank leaf, at upper right margin, Glover has hand-written his ownership name & date shortly after publication (another certain indication that this is a first printing) in black ink: "Albert Glover/ 2.15.71 (February 15, 1971)." An outstanding, quintessential Berrigan collectible in its co-rarest contemporary trade form, with most-distinguished & collegial association & provenance. In relatively quite fine-to-very-fine condition with light rubbing, faint scratching to front, back covers & spine; slight wear & some tiny bumps, creases at edges & corners of same esp. lower outer corner of front cover with very small area of surface-peeling; light rubbing, age-toning & occasional spotting to edges of text block. Interior fine-to-very-fine with mild age-toning to blank inner covers; a hint of age-toning to (four) blank grey endpapers & page leaves, the latter chiefly at blank margins/edges; tiny bumps at corners of a few leaves. Fine-Very Fine. [Item #8185]
