Signed by John Wieners "Oh, the night beckons so/ as young children sleeping/ in another room; the night beckons/ so as a dinner party on the floor" (first stanza) A broadside (appx. 10' x 13"; 6&6/8" x 11" in matte; 11" x 16&6/8" incl. frame) with the title poem by John Wieners (1934-2002), the great American poet of the Black Mountain School-&-Beyond who was a student-colleague-protege of Charles Olson (1910-1970) & Robert Duncan (1919-1988). Limited first edition, second state with the poet's last name correctly spelled as "Wieners"; one of 74 copies signed by Wieners below his printed name below poem & hand-numbered at lower margin below publisher's logo-illustration, this is copy No. 67/74. This copy has been handsomely framed in grey metal & surrounded by a purple matte, under glass. From the collection of Albert Glover (b. 1942), an esteemed American poet, scholar, academician, bibliographer & publisher who is the foremost living authority on Olson (our favorite legendary Maximus Obscurantist), by whom he was mentored & anointed. A very scarce & desirable Wieners collectible, beautifully presented & with most-distinguished, relevant provenance.
