You and Your Big Mouth: Cartoons by Pat Moriarity (No. 3, December 1993)
Seattle, WA: Fantagraphics Books, 1993. First Edition, First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. “Nobody did anything outrageous or ugly or interesting, …everybody was nicely dull. We ate, we conversed. At one time a huge blast and roar of fireworks raged across the sky. Nobody looked up. I put the corkscrew to a new bottle of wine. All the animals were hiding.” (Charles Bukowski, “Party,” back cover) You and Your Big Mouth is a collaboration project by cartoonist Pat Moriarity in which he illustrates stories, poems and other writings by guest authors. Moriarity’s career started designing posters and cartoons for Twin/Tone records in Minneapolis before he moved to comics. He was art director of Fantagraphics and THE COMICS JOURNAL before becoming a full-time freelance illustrator and comic. In this number, Moriarity works with more than a dozen artists & writers, and it's an eclectic mix: There are collaborations with Penn & Teller, Henry Rollins, a number of prominent comic artists, as well as with Charles Bukowski, who had contributed pieces for the prior two numbers of the series.
