Original Limited Art Print: "A Voice of His Own"

N/P: Privately Published, 1975. First Edition. Single Sheet. Signed by Laura A. Hayward. Laura A. Hayward is an artist of whom, unfortunately, little is known. Presumably a friend of Albert Glover’s (b. 1942), or at the very least a local artist that Glover commissioned for art and wanted to highlight. Offered today is the original artwork A Voice of His Own. A reproduction of a charcoal, minimalist, almost cartoonish sketch of a flight of stairs concealed by a wall and sparsely illuminated by a small, old-timey lantern. The harsh black and greys of the charcoal, juxtaposed by the negative space of the white sheet its etched on makes A Voice of His Own a simplistic, yet richly detailed and intimate piece of art. Dark, simple, sharp, angular, and with a surprising three-dimensional quality to it, this A Voice of His Own is another incredible addition to the art series seemingly commissioned by Glover. From the collection of Albert Glover, the great American scholar, bibliographer, author & publisher who is the foremost living authority on literary giant Charles Olson (our favorite Maximus Obscurantist), with whom we’re honored to be acquainted. Signed and dated at bottom right corner in thin pencil: “Laura A. Hayward ‘75.” Single sheet (approx 15” x 22”). Limited fine art print, no. 4 of 12 as written in pencil at bottom middle. In very fine condition with only minor wear to fine edges. Very Fine. [Item #8596]
