An issue of The Curiously Strong, a poetry magazine edited by Fred Buck and started, presumably by Buck to publish followers-&-[poetic] descendants of the great American poet, Charles Olson (1910-1970). This inference is one We at TMB draw from the presence of standout Olsonians (& friends of the mountain-sized bard) such as Peter Riley (b. 1940), an English academic who helped popularize Olson’s theory of “Projective Verse” in the United Kingdom; and Nigel Riley, a British poet whose work has been compared to Olson’s. From the collection of Albert Glover (1942-2026), the esteemed American poet, editor, publisher & academician who was the foremost remaining authority on Olson. Glover was a student of & anointed by the Maximus Master himself at SUNY Buffalo during the 1960s, & had ever since served outstandingly to bear the Olsonian Torch as bibliographer, editor & publisher. We have just been informed of Glover's passing during February of 2026, & extend our heartfelt condolences to his family. Large-format magazine in stapled sheets: the First & only Printing of this issue of The Curiously Strong. In strong near fine condition with only minor-to-moderate shelf-wear, some light bumping & related bump-creasing to fine-edges & corners of verso & recto sides; folded in fourths as issued; otherwise, generally clean.
