Coyote's Journal No. 2 (1965)
Eugene, Oregon: Coyote's Journal, 1965. First Edition. Stapled Wrappers. "Fur the color of mud, the smooth loper | Crapulous old man, a drifter. | Praises! Of Coyote of the Nasty, the fat | Puppy that abused himself, the ugly gambler, | Bringer of goodies." (Gary Snyder, back cover). This vintage 1965 number of the literary journal co-edited (with Coyote's Journal co-founders Edward van Aelstyn (1936-2018) & William Wroth (b. 1938)) & published by the noted poet-ecologist James Koller (1936-2014) is the proverbial Embarrassment of Riches, with contributions of cutting-edge poetry, prose-poetry & prose by a dizzying array of key figures from the Black Mountain School, Beat Generation, San Francisco Renaissance-&-Beyond: Cid Corman (1924-2004), Edward Dorn (1929-1999), Larry Eigner (1927-1996), Theodore Enslin (1925-2011), Anselm Hollo (1934-2013), Robert Kelly (b. 1935), & Gary Snyder (b. 1930; see the allusive-enigmatic quote by the great "poet laureate of Deep Ecology" above). From the collection of Albert Glover (1942-2026), the great American scholar, bibliographer, author & publisher who until recently was the foremost remaining authority on literary giant Charles Olson (1910-1970), with whom we're honored to have been acquainted. Chapbook in Stapled Wrappers: presumed first-&-only printing per publication customs. A collectible cornucopia of some of the Greatest Beat-&-Beyond writers who should be most-familiar to our Third Mind constituency, in its singularly rarest contemporary form & with distinguished, relevant provenance.
