The Floating Bear: A Newsletter No. 34 (1967)
New York, NY: Floating Bear, 1967. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. This vintage later number of the legendary literary journal then-published & edited by Diane di Prima (1934-2020, the most primary figure among the sparse female members of the original Beat Generation) features poems by Jack Spicer (1925-1965), Gary Snyder (b. 1930), the English Romantic master Emily Brontë (1818-1848), the influential German playwright, Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956), and New York School master, Frank O’Hara (1926-1966), along with several notable others. A classic issue of a key Beat periodical. From the collection of Albert Glover (1942-2026), the esteemed American poet, editor, publisher & academician who was the foremost remaining authority on Charles Olson (1910-1970). Glover was a student of & anointed by the Maximus Master himself at SUNY Buffalo during the 1960s, & had ever since served outstandingly to bear the Olsonian Torch as bibliographer, editor & publisher. Glover passed away during February of 2026, & we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.
