This postcard designed by David Singer (b. 1941) promotes a concert series which took place on July 9-12, 1970 at the Fillmore West featuring Quicksilver Messenger Service, Mott the Hoople, and the Brotherhood of Light and was produced by the legendary impresario Bill Graham (1931-1991). David Singer is a pioneering rock poster artist who designed over 75 posters for Graham, blending surreal imagery with meticulous hand-lettering, creating visual representations of the psychedelic music scene. Per Eric King's Collector's Guide: "This poster is black, gray, white and blue in a white frame. The central image is a collage made up of three elements. The uppermost is the corona of a solar eclipse. Below that is a man slightly crouched with his arms outstretched in a position similar to that surfers use. The lowest element is a famous high speed stroboscopic photograph taken an instant after a drop of milk has fallen onto a milk surface." The verso features a calendar of other Bill Graham events taking place in July & August of 1970 featuring Steve Miller Band, Ten Years After, Lee Michaels, and other Blues-&-Beyond luminaries. A quintessential relic of time & place. Single sheet: First Edition, first printing with all points in King's Collector's Guide (BG-242-OPC-A, pg. 575).
