Michael Crichton (1942-2008) was an American author and filmmaker known for The Andromeda Strain (1969), The Terminal Man (1972), The Great Train Robbery (1975), Congo (1980), Timeline (1999), Prey (2002), State of Fear (2004), and Next (2006); as well as having directed Westworld (1973), Runaway (1984) & Physical Evidence (1989), and having created the hit show ER (1994-2009). Offered today is the 1990 science-fiction classic, Jurassic Park. Arguably Crichton’s masterwork, Jurassic Park is the legendary cautionary tale about genetic engineering, the collapse of a dinosaur infested zoological park, chaos theory, and what happens when man plays God. Jurassic Park of course was adapted to film in 1993 by Steven Spielberg (b. 1946) The film was a critical and commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing film ever at the time and spawning the Jurassic Park franchise, including multiple film sequels.
