The first three issues (1971–1973) were edited by Robert Grenier (b. 1941) and Barrett Watten (b. 1948). The subsequent nine issues were edited by Watten between 1973 & 1982. Published between 1971 and 1982 and printed by The West Coast Print Center, San Francisco, and later at the Braun-Brumfield in Ann Arbor, Michigan, This was the first self-conscious journal of what would become known as language writing. Offered today is the 1981 issue This 11 and features: the above quoted “Motion Sickness” by Charles Bernstein (b. 1950); “Artaud, Denied,” “Property,” “Dogs,” and “My Story” by Carla Harryman (b. 1952); “Physics,” “History,” and “Room” by Bob Perelman (b. 1947); an untitled poem by Larry Eigner (1927-1996); a handful of poems by Merrill Gilfillan (b. 1945); “from Skies” by Ron Silliman (b. 1946); “Verdigris” by Kit Robinson (b. 1949); and a handful of poems by Jean Day (b. 1954) among many other great contributions!
