Founded in the 1980s, International Poetry Series was established in London, England, published & edited by Michael Carlson (b. 1951), American poet, sports writer, and broadcaster. Deeply influenced and engaged in the Mimeograph Revolution, Carlson called up those old small press techniques to create elegant underground poetry offerings while maintaining a relatively miniscule overhead. In keeping with the small press tradition, all of the International Poetry Series entries were extremely limited pressings (only 200, often signed and numbered copies), making the avant-garde, underground literary pamphlets uniquely collectible. Offered today is the entire, full run of The International Poetry Series. In this full run of 36 folded pamphlets, each number of The International Poetry Series focuses solely on one poet's work; all of which are not only numbered and signed, but all copies are number 1 of 10 signed copies within a total print run of either 200 or 150 copies. The list of contributing poets includes, but is not limited to: the above quoted Isaac Jarnot (b. 1967) formerly Lisa Jarnot, American Poet & visiting Professor at Naropa—known primarily for works like Some Other Kind of Mission (Burning Deck, 1996), Ring of Fire (Zoland Books, 2001), Black Dog Songs (Flood Editions, 2003), Night Scenes (Flood Editions, 2008) among many great volumes. Cid Corman (1924-2004), American poet, translator, editor & graduate of the University of Michigan as well as winner of the prestigious Hopwood Award (not unlike our esteemed VP of operations, Joe Provenzano), and founder of Origin, a poetry magazine that published Robert Creeley, Denise Levertov, and Louis Zukofsky. Peter Cole (b. 1957), MacArthur-winning poet and translator; Robert Hampson (b. 1948), noted British poet and academic; Robert VanderMolen (1947-2025) Michigan based avant-garde poet; and the aforementioned Michael Carlson. Also featured are names such as: Brent Mac Kay; August Kleinzahler (b. 1949); Lucille King-Edwards; Guy Birchard (b. 1949); and Theodore Enslin (1925-2011) as well as many other great contributions!
