Andrew Crozier (1943-2008), was an English poet, primarily associated with, and an instrumental figure in, the British Poetry Revival. Crozier also studied under the legendary Charles Olson (1910-1970) at SUNY Buffalo which greatly influenced his literary career. Upon his return to the UK, Crozier became co-editor of the immensely important Revival magazine, The English Intelligencer & went on to found and run Ferry Press for many years. Offered today is the exceedingly rare double issue, The Park nos. 4 & 5: Summer 1969. Originally published as The Wivenhoe Park Review from 1965 to 1968, The Park (like most small press productions) went through a number of small changes during its print run. However, despite its small-scale changes, the spirit and modus operandi has remained the same. Bringing the Olsonian, Black Mountain Poetic aesthetics and melding it with the burgeoning British Revival movement, The Park sought to bridge the gap between the American & British avant-garde undergrounds and bring them together. This particular double issue features (like many other issues of the mag) many great American and British underground writers such as: Fielding Dawson (1930-2002), the great American Beat-era short & long form fiction author & student of the Black Mountain College; Ted Berrigan (1934-1983), the great American New York School poet; Clayton Eshleman (1935-2021), American poet, translator and editor who was also an educator at the Eastern Michigan University–as well as being our close friend and mentor; Lewis Warsh (1944-2020), American poet, visual artist, professor, prose writer, editor, and publisher as well as a key member of the second generation of New York School Poets; George Tysh (b. 1942), noted American poet; and Charles Reznikoff (1894-1976), legendary American poet and founder of Objectivism, as well as many other great contributions! From the collection of Albert Glover (1942-2026), the esteemed American poet, editor, bibliographer, publisher & academician who was the foremost remaining authority on the aforementioned literary giant Charles Olson. Glover was a student of & anointed by the Maximus Master himself at SUNY Buffalo during the 1960s, & had ever since served outstandingly to bear the Olsonian Torch. Large-format softcover. First & presumably only printing. In relatively very fine condition with only minor wear to fine edges, and minor discoloration due to age-toning & some light staining to front and back covers.
