New Student Review was a student-run, campus-based literary mag that was published and proliferated at SUNY Buffalo during the mid-to-late 1960s. It’s well known that, during the 1960s, SUNY Buffalo was an epicenter for experimental poetry. As such, many poets who were students at the time & would later go on to become famous writers, elite faculty, and internationally renowned poets often contributed to the avant-garde/experimental literary mags that were coming out of that nexus. Offered today is the 1965 issue New Student Review No. 12, and features: the above quoted “An Evocation to Tommy Dorsey” by John Wieners (1934-2002), Beat Poet & San Francisco Renaissance legend; “from The Connexions” by Bob Hogg (1942-2022); “Dialogue on the Seashore Fishing at Night” by Kitayun E. Deboo, academic scholar and author; “Three Poems” by Joan Gilbert (b. 1931); and “III (from Girl)” by Zora Devrnja scholar & author, among many other great contributions! From the collection of Albert Glover (1942-2026), the esteemed American poet, editor, bibliographer, publisher & academician who was the foremost remaining authority on the literary giant Charles Olson (1910-1970). Glover was a student of & anointed by the Maximus Master himself at SUNY Buffalo during the 1960s, & had ever since served outstandingly to bear the Olsonian Torch. Stapled Wrappers. In relatively very fine condition with only minor wear to fine edges, slight smudging/scratching/staining to front and back covers; and light discoloration due to age-toning to front and back covers and throughout interior.
