We found & have retained, between front paste-down & endpaper, two pieces of ephemera: Promotional/publicity photograph of Walcott with reference to this volume & publisher, credited to "Mrs. Oliver Jackman," developed photograph printed on recto only, in excellent condition; & three sheets folded once horizontally on which is copied the Walcott poem "Summer Elegies II" on rectos, also in substantially mint condition. We surmise that this was a review &/or complimentary copy sent to Goldstein with this related photograph, & that he used this volume along with the copied poem (from Walcott's collection The Arkansas Testament, 1987) in one of the UM English Language & Literature classes that he taught. An essential, exemplary Walcott collectible- evocative, impassioned, rich & rewarding- in its rarest contemporary American form, enhanced by relevant ephemera & with highly distinguished association & provenance. Book in very fine condition with only a touch of rubbing, fading at edges & corners of front, back covers & spine; otherwise appearing substantially mint inside & out. Dust jacket relatively fine with mild rubbing, faint scratching to front, back covers & spine; slight wear & some tiny bumps, creases incl. tiny areas with minimal loss of surface paper at/from edges & corners of same & flaps.
