Fathar For (June 1972)
Buffalo, NY: Duncan McNaughton, 1972. First Printing. Stapled Sheets. A literary magazine edited by the poet, Duncan McNaughton (b. 1942) featuring works by Edward Sanders (b. 1939), the great American Mimeograph Revolutionary; John Wieners (1934-2002); and several other students, appreciators, & friends of Charles Olson (1910-1970), including Robert Duncan (1919-1988); Albert Glover (1942-2026); John Clarke (1933-1992); the Canadian poet, Colin Christopher Stuart (1949-2018); & the eclectic American counterculture figure, Frederick “Dutch” Wehage. Wehage was a well-known personality in the Provincetown, MA art scene & was known, among other things, for being an early practitioner of psychedelic psychotherapy. A curious small press rarity. From the collection of (magazine contributor!) Albert Glover, the esteemed American poet, editor, bibliographer, publisher & academician who was the foremost remaining authority on Olson. Glover was a student of & anointed by the Maximus Master himself at SUNY Buffalo during the 1960s, & had ever since served outstandingly to bear the Olsonian Torch. We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of our friend & mentor. Mimeographed magazine in stapled sheets: the First-&-likely-only Printing of the fourth issue of McNaughton’s Fathar. In Good-Very Good condition with moderate-to-enunciated shelf-wear, rubbing, some light bumping, a few instances of slightly more pronounced bump-creasing to fine-edges & corners of front, back covers & spine-edge; general horizontal, as well as vertical use-&-storage -based creasing to/at/along fine-edges of same; some rusting, bleeding to staples at interior & exterior; mild-to-enunciated age-toning, foxing, fading, & artifacts similar in style or gradation to these present variously throughout; otherwise, generally clean with interior unmarked.
