San Francisco, CA: Coyote's Journal, 1966. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. The vintage fifth-sixth double number of the literary journal chiefly edited by William Brown, along with the noted poet-ecologist James Koller (1936-2014) & Edward van Aelstyn (1936-2018), the acclaimed academician & polymath. Featuring a most-rich roster of Beat-&-Beyond contributors including Paul Blackburn (1926-1971, the poems "24.II.64/Note to Kyoto," "The Limitation" & "Body Heat"); Richard Brautigan (1935-1984, the prose-poem "A Study in California Flowers"); Clark Coolidge (b. 1939, the poem "Station"); Robert Duncan (1919-1988, the lengthy scholarly essay excerpt "Beginnings (Chapter 1 of the H.D. Trade-format journal in stapled wrappers, presumed first-&-only printing. From the collection of Robin Eichele (b. 1941), an esteemed American poet who co-founded the Detroit Artists' Workshop with the legendary John Sinclair (1941-2024) during 1964, & is our good nearby friend. At several pages throughout the issue are Eichele's hand-written marginalia in blue ink, mostly lines etc. highlighting passages- but most notably on pg. 27, where he completes three words at right margin that were incomplete as issued, part of Duncan's essay. Another classic collectible issue of the renowned Coyote's Journal, chock-full of supreme Third Mind Favorites in their prime; in its singularly rarest contemporary form & with highly distinguished, relevant & enhancing provenance. In relatively good condition with mild-to-moderate rubbing, age-toning, faint scratching & occasional spotting to front, back covers & spine; light wear & some tiny bumps, creases at/from edges & corners of same; moderate-to-significant semi-closed tearing at edges & corners of spine with moderate loss of paper; moderate rubbing, age-toning to edges of text block. Interior fine with mild-to-moderate age-toning to inner covers & page leaves, chiefly at mostly blank margins/edges; staples in process of rusting with miniscule bleeding at recto first & verso final leaves; tiny bumps & very small, faint creases at corners of some leaves.
