New York, NY: Viking Press, 2002. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Ashley Kahn’s (b. 1960) biography of A Love Supreme, the 1965 masterwork of spiritual Jazz by John Coltrane (1926-1967). Kahn, a noted journalist, music historian, & producer, is especially well-equipped to capsulize and deliver the story of a record this impactful. Kahn’s book also contains a foreword by the legendary drummer, Elvin Jones (1927-2004), who of course played on the original LP; and for Jazz afficionados, this alone is worth the price of admission. An estimable addition to any Jazz-inclusive collection or library. From the collection of Albert Glover (1942-2026), the esteemed American poet, editor, bibliographer, publisher & academician who was the foremost remaining authority on Charles Olson (1910-1970). Glover was a student of & anointed by the Maximus Master himself at SUNY Buffalo during the 1960s, & had ever since served outstandingly to bear the Olsonian Torch. We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of our friend & mentor.
